Position Summary
Spectra Tech is currently in search of a Logistics Operations Specialist to collaborate with our government client. This role will involve interaction with a diverse range of program staff, Department of Defense (DoD) personnel, and military representatives.
The Logistics Operations Specialist will maintain direct communication with both internal and external customers, necessitating strong problem-solving abilities and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, store, and process incoming shipments using manual methods or equipment such as handcarts and forklifts.
- Assign receipt control numbers (manifests) and accurately document them in an Excel spreadsheet, ensuring all receiving documents and packages are properly annotated.
- Group items based on information from receiving vouchers and segregate materials according to specific criteria, including vendor shipments and test items.
- Conduct material inspections and route items not requiring inspection to designated storage areas or organizations.
- Retrieve documentation from various sources, including GFEBS and DOD EMALL.
- Report any damaged conditions of containers to appropriate personnel.
- Identify non-expendable items for formal property accountability, record essential information, and apply barcodes for tracking purposes.
- Ensure sensitive items are secured according to established protocols.
- Coordinate incoming shipments containing hazardous materials as necessary.
- Operate forklifts for loading and unloading tasks.
- Transport materials and articles between various locations, ensuring compliance with vehicle loading regulations.
- Complete trip tickets and maintain records of vehicle usage and maintenance.
- Prepare items for shipment, including packing and labeling.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage facilities.
- Provide on-the-job training to other personnel as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Ability to adhere to established standard operating procedures.
- Experience handling hazardous materials.
- Proficient in operating various types of forklifts and completing required training.
- Possession of a valid State Driver's license and ability to complete government-required driving training.
- Capability to lift items weighing up to 70 lbs.
Clearance Requirements
Active SECRET CLEARANCE or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required. Candidates selected will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
