Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Waterfront Safety Monitor is to uphold and enforce safe practices at the waterfront. This role involves assisting in the execution of various waterfront activities while ensuring the well-being of all participants.

Compensation: $375 per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health and safety of all campers.
  • Supervise waterfront events and facilitate engaging activities.
  • Instruct campers in paddling activities.
  • Participate in safety drills and skills enhancement for lifeguards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, equipment, and supplies; report any necessary repairs.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the waterfront, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Adhere to established safety standards and guidelines.

Essential Duties:

  • Guide campers and volunteers in following established rules and directions.
  • Foster a sense of responsibility towards the preservation of natural resources at the waterfront.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the area and equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Lead and assist with boating programs and excursions.
  • Oversee camper participation in both structured and unstructured activities.
  • Support the implementation of the Girl Scout Leadership program as needed.
  • Share insights about the lifeguard role with campers.
  • Assist in the overall operations of the camp as required.
  • Engage in various water activities such as fishing and nature walks.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Current certification as a Lifeguard from the American Red Cross or an equivalent organization.
  • Certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Standard First Aid is required.
  • Experience with small watercraft (kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding) is preferred, but training will be provided.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
  • Experience in an aquatic environment is preferred.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
  • Commitment to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and willingness to become a member.
  • Must provide own transportation to and from the camp.

The physical demands of this position require the ability to walk, hike, and work outdoors in natural settings.
