Acute Care Nursing Graduate Program

UPMC St. Margaret, recognized as a Four Time ANCC Magnet designated facility, is currently seeking a Full-time Staff Nurse to join our innovative Acute Care Graduate Nurse Rotational Program. This program is designed to provide comprehensive support across various Acute units.
The Graduate Nurse Rotational Program offers a unique opportunity for new graduates to gain diverse clinical experience. Participants will rotate through six specialized units, including progressive care, rehabilitation, orthopedics, neuro-oncology, renal/respiratory, and surgical care, over a six-month period.
Each graduate will be paired with an experienced registered nurse mentor and will have dedicated preceptors for each rotation. This program is an excellent chance to learn from skilled nursing professionals and acquire a broad range of foundational nursing competencies. At the conclusion of the rotations, participants will engage in a mutual matching process with a designated unit or may opt to remain in the resource pool.
Included Units in the Graduate Nurse Acute Track:
- 3B: A telemetry Step Down unit with 34 beds, catering to critically ill patients requiring more cardiac monitoring than a standard Medical Surgical floor.
- 4A: A 28-bed acute rehabilitation unit providing extensive rehabilitation services to adult and geriatric patients.
- 4B: A 30-bed orthopedic unit focused on comprehensive orthopedic care, including joint replacements and spinal surgeries.
- 5A: A 34-bed unit specializing in neurology and oncology, addressing medical/surgical needs with a focus on stroke and cancer care.
- 5B: A 33-bed unit for adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of general medical diagnoses.
- 6A: A surgical and step-down unit with 34 beds, primarily caring for pre and post-surgical patients across various specialties.
- Additional experiences available in ICU, ED, OR, PACU, and GI lab.
Our nursing staff operates on a rotating 12-hour schedule to ensure continuous coverage and support.
The Staff Nurse role is pivotal in delivering exceptional patient care while showcasing empathy and a commitment to learning. This position demands independent judgment, effective communication, and collaborative partnerships with physicians, care providers, patients, and their families to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
As a Registered Nurse and integral member of the care delivery team, you will uphold the standards of nursing care, maintaining authority and accountability for its execution. Your commitment to the community and the nursing profession will be evident in all aspects of your practice.
