The primary objective of this role is to oversee and coordinate patient care within nursing units, ensuring compliance with both federal and state regulations, as well as adherence to established facility policies and procedures. This position entails providing administrative leadership and clinical supervision across all shifts to uphold the highest quality standards of nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily rounds to monitor patient conditions and the quality of nursing care, ensuring all patients receive appropriate attention and care.
- Address staff-related issues and initiate disciplinary procedures when necessary to maintain a professional work environment.
- Adhere to departmental policies regarding the use of protective equipment.
- Review and update the Nursing Care Plan to reflect the physical, emotional, and rehabilitative needs of residents.
- Ensure high-quality resident care by effectively utilizing the skills and capabilities of nursing staff.
- Guide and assist Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA's) in managing their workload to meet resident needs, including assistance with mobility and personal care.
- Integrate nursing plans with prescribed medical treatments to ensure comprehensive care.
- Ensure accurate transcription and implementation of physician orders.
- Manage medication orders from the pharmacy and oversee the handling of controlled substances.
- Maintain accurate records of narcotics and ensure proper documentation of medication counts.
- Order necessary supplies for the nursing unit to ensure uninterrupted patient care.
- Maintain precise clinical records and documentation as per regulatory standards.
- Participate in the training and development of non-professional staff through orientation and in-service programs.
- Evaluate resident care plans to ensure they meet the evolving needs of patients.
- Schedule and conduct performance evaluations for all nursing personnel on the unit.
- Provide direct patient care as required.
- A minimum of a Nursing Degree from an accredited institution or graduation from an approved RN program is required. An active Registered Nurse license in the state of New Jersey is mandatory.
