Key Responsibilities- Monitor noise levels and investigate noise complaints in a fair and impartial manner.
- Enforce noise regulations and bylaws to ensure compliance with local laws.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, town officials, and other stakeholders to address noise-related issues.
- Issue fines and penalties for noise violations, as necessary.
- Conduct routine inspections of businesses, construction sites, and other locations to ensure compliance with noise regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of noise complaints, investigations, and enforcement actions.
- Prepare and present testimony in court proceedings or administrative hearings, as needed.
- Prior experience in law enforcement, code enforcement, environmental compliance, or a similar role is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of local noise regulations and bylaws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions under pressure.
The Noise Bylaw Enforcement Officer will work in a variety of settings, including outdoors and in a normal office environment. The employee must be able to walk, reach, bend, and stand for moderate periods of time, as well as lift up to 30 lbs. The ability to operate a computer, printer, photocopier, fax machine, and other office equipment is also required.
