Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care:
    • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
    • Help residents with mobility, including transferring, positioning, and walking.
    • Provide assistance with feeding and ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
  • Observation and Reporting:
    • Monitor and record residents' vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
    • Observe and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional conditions to the nursing staff.
    • Document care provided and any observations in residents' records accurately and timely.
  • Patient Comfort and Safety:
    • Ensure residents are comfortable and their personal preferences and needs are met.
    • Assist with creating a safe and clean environment for residents, including maintaining cleanliness in patient rooms and common areas.
    • Follow infection control practices and facility protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Communication and Support:
    • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
    • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
    • Assist with the residents' social and recreational activities as required.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of residents.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning and implementation.

Requirements:

Education and Certification:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Iowa.
  • Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a CNA in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting is preferred but not required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required in patient care, including lifting, transferring, and supporting residents.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare practices.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-Time: 40 hours per week with shifts of 2 PM - 10 PM, 10 PM - 6 AM, or 6 PM - 6 AM, including every other weekend.
  • Part-Time: Variable hours within the shifts of 2 PM - 10 PM, 10 PM - 6 AM, or 6 PM - 6 AM, including every other weekend.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents as needed, and to stand or walk for extended periods.
