Job Title: Justice System Reform Specialist

The County of Los Angeles, Department of Human Resources, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to serve as a Justice System Reform Specialist. This is a full-time position that requires a deep understanding of complex systems and a commitment to reforming the justice system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to influence stakeholders and drive consensus on established goals.
  • Design and direct policy initiatives related to reforming carceral systems, infrastructure, and services provided to justice-involved individuals.
  • Navigate complex challenges and align large, siloed systems to achieve reform.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Human Services, Public Health, Political Science, Law, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field.
  • Five years of management experience in a large government agency designing, developing, and implementing solutions to the conditions that drive involvement in public safety, judicial, and/or carceral systems.
  • Two years of management experience in a large government agency responsible for developing and implementing policies related to locked facilities aimed at safely reducing the population using a collaborative process.
  • Extensive knowledge of how policy and culture of law enforcement organizations, funding streams and their limitations, staffing and labor relations, jail facility conditions, behavioral health needs of incarcerated individuals, and the independence of the judiciary and other justice partners combine to create a complex system of competing interests.
