Job Purpose / Duties & Responsibilities

The EHS Manager role is designed to provide comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety support to the Operations team and the entire organization, ensuring adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

This position entails the coordination, development, and management of all EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training necessary for compliance, collaborating closely with all departments within BG Products Inc.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead by example to fulfill BG's Mission/Vision and Core Values.
  • Comply with company policies while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor.
  • Offer daily guidance and direction on EHS programs at all levels to ensure a unified and effective approach.
  • Oversee the daily operations of EHS specialists.

Safety Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and evaluate processes to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Identify, assess, and manage hazards and risks through Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments across all BG locations.
  • Monitor emerging safety issues and regulations impacting company operations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous safety awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
  • Conduct investigations into incidents and communicate findings and resolutions as necessary.
  • Implement appropriate engineering and administrative controls, along with personal protective equipment.
  • Manage industrial hygiene monitoring and sampling to ensure compliance with relevant programs.
  • Administer the monthly drug and alcohol testing program across all sites.
  • Facilitate new employee orientation training.
  • Organize safety/environmental meetings to enhance employee engagement and awareness.
  • Develop and deliver safety-related training programs.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and maintain relevant plans.
  • Review safety policies and maintain injury and illness statistics and reports.
  • Collaborate with loss and risk prevention entities overseeing BG properties.
  • Manage OHSAS 18001 processes, including audits and safety reviews.

Environmental Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Oversee hazardous waste management and Integrated Contingency Plans.
  • Manage SPCC and SWPP plans, along with regulatory reporting.
  • Conduct regular environmental inspections.
  • Lead waste minimization efforts and lean EHS initiatives.
  • Administer ISO 14001 processes, including audits and environmental reviews.
  • Ensure proper management of Safety Data Sheets for all products.
  • Oversee EHS training related to shipping and receiving regulations.
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Manage the Workers Compensation program in collaboration with medical providers and insurance carriers.

Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in EHS Management is essential.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Proven experience in training and leading teams in a cross-functional setting while handling sensitive information.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
