Overview: The Construction Equipment Technician will be tasked with evaluating, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse range of heavy machinery utilized in the mining sector, including bulldozers, front-end loaders, haul trucks, and excavators. The technician's role is crucial in ensuring that all machinery operates efficiently and safely, thereby enhancing productivity and reducing downtime.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform regular inspections and conduct diagnostic assessments on heavy machinery to identify problems and determine required repairs.
  • Repair and replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
  • Execute routine maintenance tasks, such as fluid changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and repair methodologies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities conducted on machinery.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a secure working environment for all personnel.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience as a heavy machinery technician, preferably within the mining sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Capability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficient in utilizing diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

Physical Requirements:
  • Capacity to lift and maneuver heavy machinery parts and tools.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Willingness to work at heights and in noisy, dusty environments.
