About the Role

C3.ai, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise AI software, seeks an experienced IP Strategy Leader to join its Legal team. This is a unique opportunity to shape and execute the company's intellectual property strategy, leveraging your expertise in patent law, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

As a key member of the C3 AI leadership team, you will work closely with Product, R&D, and Data Science teams to develop and implement strategic plans that align with business objectives. Your focus will be on protecting and enforcing C3 AI's intellectual property assets, ensuring compliance with global regulations, and identifying opportunities for growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute IP Strategy: Design and implement comprehensive IP plans, focusing on patent development, portfolio management, and enforcement, as well as trademark and copyright protection.
  • Lead High-Performing Team: Mentor and manage a team of IP professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with Product, R&D, and Data Science teams to ensure alignment between IP strategies and business objectives.
  • Manage Intellectual Property Assets: Oversee invention sessions, patent application drafting and filing, patent prosecution, and licensing negotiations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to IP portfolios, including infringement, invalidity, and oppositions.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in intellectual property law, with at least 3 years in a senior IP leadership role.
  • JD from a top-tier law school and active membership in at least one U.S. State bar.
  • Registration with the California Bar and eligibility to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning software technology and ability to apply legal knowledge to complex technical issues.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex IP litigation and dispute resolution matters.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Compensation and Benefits

C3.ai offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $253,000 - $342,000 per annum, plus generous equity participation and benefits. The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates.
