NoraJune Designs is preparing for an exciting summer season, focusing on the creation of costumes for a high-fashion interactive dinner show. We are seeking dedicated individuals for various roles within our costume production team. Contract positions are available, with the potential for further employment discussions during the contract period.

Stitcher Position: Weekly compensation ranges from $480.00 to $600.00.

As a Stitcher, you will be tasked with the construction and modification of costumes and related items. Responsibilities include pinning alterations, creating tags for garment adjustments, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. You will also assist in preparing costume rental packages and support the team during load-ins and technical rehearsals.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience; candidates must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient sewing skills on various sewing machines.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a costume shop environment.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and to be active throughout the workday.
  • Basic English and math skills are essential.
  • Prior sewing experience is required; familiarity with industrial machines is preferred.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities:

  • Construct and alter costumes under the guidance of the lead designer or supervisor.
  • Assist with fittings and make alterations as directed.
  • Organize and prepare costumes for various productions and events.

Cutter/Draper Position: Weekly compensation of $1,000.00.

The Cutter/Draper will bring the Costume Designer's vision to life through draping, pattern making, and overseeing costume construction. This role includes supervising assistants and stitchers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Costume Design, Fashion Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in costume production.
  • In-depth knowledge of costume construction, draping, and pattern making.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Capability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
  • Experience in costume fitting and alterations.
  • Advanced skills in various sewing techniques and machine operation.
  • Knowledge of millinery and craft construction.
  • Computer proficiency in both iOS and Windows systems, including Gsuite and O365.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and to remain active throughout the workday.

Responsibilities:

  • Create patterns based on costume sketches and measurements.
  • Cut and prepare costumes, providing guidance to stitchers.
  • Conduct fittings to ensure proper design and fit.
  • Maintain detailed records of alterations and costume builds.
  • Oversee the preparation and organization of costumes for events and rentals.
  • Ensure a safe and orderly workspace.
  • Availability to work a demanding schedule, including nights and weekends.

Costume Shop Internship: Weekly stipend of $400.00.

This internship offers hands-on experience in all aspects of costume production, working alongside guest artists and designers. Interns will engage in shop maintenance, garment construction, alterations, and assist with fittings and wardrobe assignments.

Internship Requirements:

  • Previous costume experience at the college, community, or professional level.
  • Current enrollment in a college or university program related to costume design or technology; candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Duties:

Support the team in various organizational and design tasks while gaining insight into the operations of a professional costume shop.

What to Expect:

This position provides a comprehensive understanding of costume production, from concept to execution, including participation in fittings and dress rehearsals. Flexible scheduling allows for coordination with academic commitments.
