Job Overview:

The HVAC-R Lead is responsible for overseeing the installation, repair, and maintenance of refrigeration, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. This role requires a high level of expertise and hands-on experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems.
  • Diagnose and rectify issues by removing, repairing, adjusting, or replacing faulty components.
  • Install new air conditioning and refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Verify the functionality of newly installed equipment to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Assist in planning scheduled maintenance and procure necessary materials for operations.
Essential Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the repair and maintenance of refrigeration and heating systems.
  • Universal EPA certification is required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of vocational or technical training in HVAC-R.
  • Experience with computerized control systems related to HVAC.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of refrigeration and heating/cooling systems.
  • Proficient in the tools and techniques utilized in equipment maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of PCs and computerized control systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues in compressors and heating systems.
  • Capability to operate a university vehicle to various job sites.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding manual labor.
  • Capacity to work independently in diverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints for electrical, piping, and ductwork.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
Certification Required:

Universal EPA Certification

Position Type:

Classified, Full-Time

Work Schedule:

40 hours per week, 12 months per year

Telecommuting Policy:

Telecommuting is not permitted during the initial probationary period. Post-probation, eligibility for remote work may be considered based on supervisor discretion and company policies.
