Established in 1976, EKI specializes in the production and distribution of diagnostic reagents and chemicals utilized across various laboratory and industrial settings. As we continue to grow, we are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team.
This role is pivotal in overseeing the maintenance of our facilities, grounds, and equipment. The primary responsibility will involve managing the operation and setup of both automatic and semi-automatic packaging machinery. Relevant experience includes working with pressure-sensitive labeling systems, capping devices, automatic and semi-automatic liquid filling machines, conveyor systems, pneumatic pumps, and other liquid handling technologies. Additionally, this position entails general maintenance and repair duties, including scheduled preventative maintenance and minor repairs as required throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate should possess a keen attention to detail and a willingness to learn new skills and technologies. While prior experience with packaging machinery is advantageous, the capacity to learn through hands-on experience is paramount.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Supervise the setup and operation of semi-automatic packaging machinery, ensuring preventive maintenance is performed as necessary.
- Identify issues by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, and utilizing measurement and testing tools.
- Troubleshoot problems through hands-on diagnostics and observation techniques.
- Perform mechanical tasks, including electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs of production equipment.
- Execute repairs in accordance with engineering diagrams and manufacturer instructions.
- Reduce downtime by collaborating with production staff on routine maintenance and monitoring compliance.
- Manage inventories of equipment, supplies, and spare parts by assessing and maintaining adequate levels.
- Conduct minor repairs and general facility maintenance, including mechanical, light plumbing, and light electrical work.
- Coordinate with external vendors when necessary to complete specific tasks.
- Promote a culture of Total Safety Awareness, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Technical training and experience are beneficial, whether educational or vocational.
- Prior experience with various packaging equipment is advantageous.
- Experience in diverse technologies/fields is helpful: Pneumatics, PLC, liquid pumps, HVAC, process water systems.
- Experience in general maintenance and repair tasks is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and understand machine operations through observation and hands-on work.
- Dependable, reliable, and punctual.
- Organized, highly motivated, and capable of working independently.
- Basic data entry and computer skills may be required.
- Forklift and scissor lift training/experience is beneficial.
- Regularly lift and/or move objects weighing 10-50 lbs; occasionally use equipment to lift or move heavier objects.
- Able to stand for an 8-hour shift.
- Capability to work on ladders or elevated platforms.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed.
- Full-time, salaried position, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
