Job Summary

The Director of Dental Standards and Operations position is a key role within SIU Medicine, responsible for providing subject-matter expertise in dental enterprise operations. This position serves as the primary administrator and champion of the Dental Operations & Standards unit, overseeing the planning, organizing, managing, evaluating, and enhancing of partner and stakeholder dental services, processes, functions, and program development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administration: 90%
    • Oversee the Dental Operations & Standards unit, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and industry standards.
    • Develop and implement evidence-based practice guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure safe, reliable, and consistent processes.
    • Collaborate with OCM leadership, partners, and stakeholders to identify and address dental administration and services vulnerabilities.
    • Design and develop clinical and analytical capabilities to support comprehensive quality management and patient safety programming.
  • Research: 5%
    • Participate in dental operations training and provide advice and consultation to staff, partners, and stakeholders.
    • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at local, regional, national, or international platforms.
  • Teaching: 5%
    • Teach residents, students, and partners on dental and correctional medicine care knowledge.
    • Supervise resident rotations and student clerkships in correctional health activities.
    • Participate in education conferences, seminars, and lectures for resident physicians and medical students.
  • Service: 0%
Qualifications
  • Requires DDS or DMD with current and valid Illinois license to practice.
  • Experience in the field of correctional medicine.
  • Substantive and proven administrative experience in directing, planning, and evaluating dental operations.
  • At least one (1) year experience in training others on dental administration and/or delivery.
