Job Summary

Actapio, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Network Specialist to maintain the integrity and security of our company's computer system network and the systems connected to it. As a key member of our IT team, you will be responsible for evaluating systems, analyzing technical issues, and developing solutions to ensure optimal network performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arrange equipment according to network configuration and cable layout design, and physically install equipment and cabling work.
  • Ensure secure and stable server connectivity and test network protocols.
  • Create internet domains and optimize intranet performance.
  • Test data exchange and communication between computers, routers, modems, and servers.
  • Install, update, and configure end-user networking accessories.
  • Monitor server capacity and performance to keep up with demand in online traffic.
  • Run diagnostic tests and perform repairs, as well as develop backup, archiving, and data retrieval procedures.
  • Train junior IT staff, prepare user manuals, and provide remote or onsite technical support.
  • Enhance network security, as well as document network processes and cabling layouts.
  • Stay informed of developments in network technologies and infrastructure.
  • Install hardware and software to address any issues.
Data Center Responsibilities
  • Assist with selection and negotiation of contractors for construction of new server rooms and service expansion.
  • Data center operation, and the creation of rules and flowcharts related to operation.
Requirements
  • Japanese/English bilingual - Speak Japanese and business-level English required.
  • Experience with data center network configuration and operation.
  • Knowledge of network equipment (switches, routers) and experience with design, configuration, and operation of such equipment.
  • Basic understanding of typical protocols used in data centers, such as BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of, and experience using Linux and Network Stack.
  • Specialized knowledge regarding cabling and network hardware, transceivers, etc.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple persons using Git and/or GitHub.
  • Ability to communicate asynchronously using online platforms like Slack.
  • Certified CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco network professional preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of network connectivity, technologies, protocols, and security.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of IP Clos, and configuration/operation experience.
  • Experience configuring and operating large-scale networks.
  • Experience using network configuration automation tools (Network maker tools, Ansible, etc.).
  • Development/operation experience using Python or Go.
  • Experience using monitoring systems such as Prometheus, Grafana.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or comparable experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Network Engineering or IT field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Network Specialist.
