Virtual Secondary Counselor

The Secondary Counselor will provide virtual support to students and parents/learning coaches in Utah, assisting with course selection, scheduling, and addressing student concerns. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on building relationships and providing guidance on academic and non-academic issues.

1. Assist students and families with successful transition into the program.
2. Follow up with students and families to ensure they are staying on track and fulfilling program requirements.
3. Build relationships with students and families through email, phone calls, and in-person interactions.
4. Proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve student and family issues, understanding proper channels of communication.
5. Work with school teams to identify and access school and community resources.
6. Advise students and families on academics, career planning, and graduation.
7. Assist with school course selection, ensuring compliance with state credit and requirements.
8. Implement programs for students and families related to interpersonal adjustment issues.
9. Participate in crisis prevention and management plans, serving as a key member of the Student Support Team (SST).
10. Report and refer critical incidents that jeopardize student well-being, adhering to state regulations and ethical standards.
11. Assist teachers with integrating new students into coursework, ensuring previous grades, credits, and evaluations are handled appropriately.

1. Utah license in School Counseling.
2. Master's degree or higher.
3. Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite.
4. Excellent communication and customer-focused approach.
5. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
6. High degree of flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
7. Team player with demonstrated leadership skills.
8. Ability to work occasional evening hours and travel for marketing and state testing events.
