Job Title: Information Technology Technician

Reports to: Director of Informational Technology

Department: Information Technology

Primary Purpose:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Information Technology, works with the Information Technology team to specify, select, install, configure, system manage, and operate all server hardware and software for Lumberton ISD. Works as part of the Information Technology Services team to maintain all server-related assets, applications, and services. Performs other related duties as assigned to support an effective and thorough educational program for the students at Lumberton ISD.

Qualifications:
  • EDUCATION: Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • EXPERIENCE: Four years' experience providing information technology services.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Criminal history clearance and valid TX Driver's License. Microsoft, Google, VMware, Juniper, Aerohive, Cisco. Certification from recognized programs that indicate mastery of systems, tools, and techniques relevant to the assignment.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write reports and procedures. Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of faculty, staff, and peers.
  • TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of LAN and WAN topologies and architecture. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft server, Microsoft Active Directory, PowerShell, and Google Suit. Strong working knowledge of configuring and maintaining VMware and virtual environments. Working knowledge of Server and PC operating systems - such as Windows 2008 - 2019, PC operating systems such as Windows 10, Chromebook, and iPads. Working knowledge PC hardware and components, including processors, motherboards, accessories, cards, peripherals. Working knowledge of IP Telephony. Working knowledge of PC/LAN, application software including word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), (MS Outlook), and Goggle suite. Experience in configuring and running Microsoft DHCP and DNS services. Strong working knowledge of managing multiple linked databases, disaster recovery, and development of bulk data import/export procedures with SQL and Python.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provide resolution of technical support issues for the District
    • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot district physical and virtual server infrastructure
    • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot district Windows server environment
    • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot district network-based services: File and Print services, Email, Active Directory, DHCP/DNS/WINS
    • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot district IP phone systems
    • Configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot district document imaging solution
    • Configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot windows software deployments
    • Monitor and troubleshoot district door security access and camera system
    • Provide and maintain documentation of backup processes and retention periods
    • Provide Tier 3 support for customers and technical staff
    • Provide and test backup and disaster recovery processes and procedures
    • Work with vendors in the research, development, and implementation of server technologies
    • Prepare and maintain written documentation of district server and application environments
    • Work to implementing new software and hardware technologies
    • Work with vendors in the process of troubleshooting escalated incidents
    • Work with Director of Information Technology implementing new server technologies
    • Work with Director of Information Technology implementing new computer technologies
    • Aggerating data from SIS to vendors
    • Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school
    • Work from ladders to install/replace cabling
Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; standard office equipment including personal computers and peripherals. Ladders and powered tools.

Posture: Prolonged sitting; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; ladder climb

Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds); occasional heavy lifting and carrying (55 pounds and over)

Environment: Work is performed in an office environment; frequent on-call and after-hours work; districtwide travel

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; emotional control under stress
