Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Mexia Independent School District. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing students with the support and resources they need to succeed academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Strategies: Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students, incorporating accommodations for individual differences and reflecting a deep understanding of the Texas Education Agency's curriculum guidelines.
  • Student Growth and Development: Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing, and assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned, promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Classroom Management and Organization: Create a conducive learning environment, manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, and take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
  • Communication: Establish and maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members, ensuring open and effective communication.
  • Professional Growth and Development: Participate in staff development activities to enhance job-related skills, comply with state, district, and school regulations, and attend faculty meetings as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • One year of student teaching or approved internship experience
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with regular exposure to noise and occasional prolonged standing, bending, and lifting. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain emotional control under stress and work irregular hours as needed.
