Position Summary

The Building Inspector plays a crucial role in serving our municipal clients, acting as the designated authority responsible for the administration and enforcement of local, state, and federal codes, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to all buildings and structures. This position involves conducting plan reviews and inspections to ensure the safety and compliance of all construction activities within assigned jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of municipal projects to ensure adherence to building standards.
  • Ensure compliance with construction criteria by developing and maintaining standards for methods and materials.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of architectural plans and drawings for completeness and compliance with relevant codes.
  • Coordinate inspection methodologies with building personnel and provide training on technical code-related topics.
  • Offer technical guidance and interpretations regarding building construction codes to various stakeholders.
  • Engage in professional association meetings to stay updated on trends and innovations in building inspection.
  • Contribute to marketing strategies by identifying project opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and participating in client interviews.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in modern construction practices and building codes.
  • Proven ability to perform field inspections of both commercial and residential buildings.
  • Strong knowledge to identify structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing code violations.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Required certifications: ICC Residential Building and ICC Commercial Building Inspection.
  • Preferred: ICC certified Plans examiner.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
