Overview
As a Therapist with Rappahannock Area Community Services Board, you will provide therapeutic care and case management services for individuals requiring substance abuse treatment under the supervision of the District Probation and Parole Office. Work is performed under general supervision and is guided by agency policies and procedures, quality assurance diagnostic guidelines, and professional practices, including ethical standards related to client interactions, state and federal regulations, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct intake interviews, make assessments, and develop diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Interview individuals and provide problem-solving and supportive therapy.
- Conduct group, individual, and family therapy sessions, including substance abuse group therapy. Provide crisis intervention services and risk assessments.
- Input psychological data to agency staff for individual placements, care, and treatment.
- Consult with representatives of other agencies and provide and coordinate individual case management services, including preparation and maintenance of participant case documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, and periodic assessments. Administer and report unauthorized program absences, progress deficiencies, and random drug testing results.
- Prepare lesson plans and training materials for educational/treatment programming.
- Provide expert testimony in court and legal proceedings.
- Refer individuals to inpatient treatment providers and assist newly discharged individuals.
Requirements
Master's Degree in the Behavioral Sciences and some clinical work experience in the treatment of the substance-abusive population. Valid VA driver's license and VA license as LCSW, LPC, or LCP are required.
