Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Addictions Counselor to join our team at the Addiction Treatment Center (ATC). As a member of our multidisciplinary treatment team, you will work under the supervision of a higher-level Addictions Counselor or Licensed Master Social Worker to provide clinical services and direct care to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group therapy, as well as facilitate recreational, vocational, and social activities.
  • Interview patients, review medical/psychiatric history, and complete assessments as part of treatment plan development.
  • Monitor patient compliance with treatment goals and complete required documentation.
  • Provide orientation to patients regarding the nature of the treatment facility, including its programs, activities, policies, and rules.
  • Provide Crisis Intervention and maintain relationships with vocational, educational, social services, probation, parole, referral agencies, and other community agencies associated with client rehabilitation.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to obtain preauthorization and recurring reviews.
  • Conduct routine rounds, document observations, and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Transport patients using agency vehicles and participate in meal preparation and distribution.
  • Communicate shift change information to facilitate smooth transition and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) certification in New York State.
  • Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.
  • Ability to work under the supervision of a higher-level Addictions Counselor or Licensed Master Social Worker.
