Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team at Fort Carson, Colorado. As an HVAC Mechanic, you will be responsible for the installation, service, and repair of environmental control systems, including air conditioners, condensing units, and boilers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mount compressor, condenser units, and air handlers using hand tools following blueprint, engineering specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities.
  • Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site.
  • Maintains, repairs, and replaces or installs a broad range of HVAC equipment and support systems for operation and maintenance activities.
  • Completes records, maintains tools and equipment.
  • Repairing, and fabricating ductwork using sheet metal hand tools and shop fabrication equipment.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble PVC and copper tubing and fittings, including braze/soldering copper/copper, copper/brass, and copper/steel.
  • Troubleshoot and replace defective breaker controls, contactors, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units using electrician's hand tools.
  • Install, repair, replace, maintain, troubleshoot, and service; air conditioners, condensing units, air cooled chillers, walk-in coolers/freezers, air handlers, gas/oil fired steam/hot water boilers, furnaces, RTU's and MAU's, from motorized lifts, ladders, catwalks, and roofs in extreme hot and cold weather.
  • Work independently, self-motivated, delegate assignments, responsibility, and direct subordinates to meet schedules and objectives.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years Journey-Level experience and CFC certified.
  • Must be able to work under limited supervision and have the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • DDC Controls and Heavy Refrigeration experience needed.
  • Must have and maintain a Colorado driver's license.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug test. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
