Houston Health Team Seeks Seasoned Architectural Expert

At HKS, we are looking for a highly skilled and accomplished Sr. Project Architect to join our esteemed Houston-based Health team. With over 15 years of experience in architectural design and project delivery, you will be responsible for envisioning, designing, and delivering exceptional projects that exceed client expectations.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented individual who possesses strong communication skills, a flexible attitude, and the ability to solve problems creatively. As a recognized leader and licensed Architect, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and acting as an advisor on projects. You will endorse the firm's values by personally influencing client service, innovation, and communication.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead teams and other Project Architects in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems.
  2. Collaborate with PIC/PM in defining project work plans and developing and managing the production schedule, including effectively defining and meeting deadlines.
  3. Lead the creation and modification of complex detailed implementation documents to incorporate the design intent, using diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices and advanced techniques.
  4. Develop code analysis and confirm code and zoning requirements for assigned segments of projects are met.
  5. Supervise the preparation of documents by architectural teams, including verifying implementation documents conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
  6. Manage the technical resolution and coordination for the project.
  7. Write reports or specifications for assigned projects.
  8. Presents design concepts and drawings to clients.
  9. Maintain open communication with clients and provide guidance through projects.
  10. Coordinate with PM, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, and obtain approvals, negotiations, and adjusting scope of services.
  11. Communicate with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentations.
  12. Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings, and document as needed.
  13. Prepare and/or review meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.

Qualifications

  1. Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  2. Architectural Registration required.
  3. Typically 15+ years of experience.
  4. Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  5. Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling software preferred.
  6. Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred.
  7. Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
  8. Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
  9. Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC process.
  10. Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into implementation documents.
  11. Strong presentation skills.
  12. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  13. The ability to manage teams with diplomatic leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external.
  14. The ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
