Responsibilities:
The J-1 research scholars will engage in activities aligned with the objectives of our research programs. The specific responsibilities will be determined by our organization. Under the J-1 program, a research scholar may remain in the U.S. for an extended period, subject to our discretion regarding the duration of stay.
The research scholar will participate in laboratory-based translational or clinical research under the mentorship of a faculty member, developing essential skills for a successful career as an independent researcher.
This position is primarily focused on laboratory research and does not include clinical neurosurgery training or combined laboratory-clinical experiences.The initial appointment is for a minimum of one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance evaluations and available funding.
While regular clinical exposure such as patient rounding or clinic duties is not part of this fellowship, there may be opportunities to observe surgical procedures as part of specific research projects.
Research activities will encompass neurosurgical anatomical science, cadaveric dissection, and applied projects in neurosurgery and neuroscience, as well as the development of medical and surgical technologies.
Basic science components of the research will require collaboration with a supporting laboratory. The fellowship is dedicated to research within the laboratory, which may also include relevant clinical research.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
Experience in writing research reports and familiarity with biomedical disciplines is essential.
Candidates should demonstrate technical and interpersonal skills appropriate for laboratory or clinical settings.
Proficiency in scientific reasoning, as well as strong oral and written communication skills, is required.
