Overview:
The Primary Care Physician is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to patients by conducting thorough examinations, obtaining medical histories, and prescribing appropriate medications. This role also involves ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests while educating patients on nutrition, hygiene, and preventive health measures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver primary healthcare services in alignment with the standards of Internal Medicine.
- Order and interpret laboratory and imaging tests, referring patients to specialists as necessary.
- Evaluate medical records, test results, and examinations to diagnose patient conditions and recommend treatment options.
- Prescribe medications and treatment plans for documented medical conditions.
- Discuss potential side effects of treatments with patients and ensure all allergy information is current prior to prescribing.
- Advise patients on lifestyle and dietary modifications that may enhance their health or assist in managing health issues.
- Comply with departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, while maintaining quality improvement and safety standards.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to all federal and state health information privacy regulations.
- Ensure that medical records are accurate and complete in a timely manner.
- Collaborate effectively with all Southern California Medical Center staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- At least one (1) year of experience in providing primary care.
- Valid medical license to practice in California; required.
- Board certification or eligibility in internal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, or psychiatry; preferred.
- Current certification in BLS / CPR; required.
- Must be in good standing with the Medical Board of California.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced medical office setting.
- Regular interaction with a diverse population, including team members, healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives.
- Flexibility to work across various clinics as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent sitting, writing, typing, and verbal communication.
- Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Regular use of computers, keyboards, and office equipment.
