As a Registered Nurse Resident at Grady Health System, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as a Registered Nurse throughout the duration of the RN Residency Program, which spans one year. Please note that Grady Health System does not provide work sponsorships for employment authorization. In the event that the Residency Agreement is not fulfilled, reimbursement may be required upon separation.
Program Summary
The Grady Health System Nurse Residency program is designed to equip novice nurses with the essential knowledge and skills necessary for a successful transition into clinical nursing practice. It serves as a bridge between academic education and practical nursing experience, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
The Grady RN Residency program collaborates with Vizient, formerly known as the University Health Consortium (UHC), to design and implement curriculum and methodologies that align with the standards and guidelines of Vizient Residency Programs and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).
Program Details
- A comprehensive one-year residency program grounded in evidence-based practice, designed to complement hospital and nursing orientations as well as specialty training in acute care and critical care settings.

- Acute Care/Medical-Surgical
- Critical Care
- Emergency Services
- Oncology
- Perinatal Care
- An extended orientation period with a trained, experienced nurse preceptor.
- A dedicated Advanced Clinical Nurse serving as the Residency Program Coordinator, providing support and resources.
- Interactive monthly classes that facilitate the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world patient scenarios.
- Guidance in completing an evidence-based practice group project within the clinical environment.
- Access to professional development opportunities and resources.
- Must possess an ADN, BSN, or MSN degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Eligibility to work in the United States as a Registered Nurse for the full duration of the RN Residency Program.
- Georgia licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Recent graduates from nursing school with less than one year of employment as a Registered Nurse.
- Compliance with all application requirements as outlined by Grady Health System.
- For positions in Critical Care or Emergency Services, candidates should have relevant clinical experience, such as externships or senior practicums, or specific coursework in these specialty areas.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Card is mandatory.
- Successful completion of the NCLEX and receipt of Georgia Nursing License prior to the start of the program.
- Documentation of the above qualifications will be required during the interview process.
