Role Overview:

In this pivotal role, the Senior Application Technology Specialist operates under limited supervision to deliver comprehensive care for patients undergoing Heart and Vascular procedures. This position is integral in assisting physicians and ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the procedural journey.

The responsibilities include performing IV starts, preparing patients, monitoring hemodynamics, operating specialized equipment, documenting procedures, managing vascular access sites, and providing essential education to patients and their families.

The incumbent will also provide intra-procedural technical support while maintaining rigorous quality assurance checks on technical equipment. Adherence to radiation safety standards is paramount, ensuring compliance with the Corewell Health Radiation Safety Department.

Additionally, the role may involve training less experienced technicians, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.

Specialized Skills:
IR Special Procedure Technologists are expected to assist physicians using sterile techniques and engage in image post-processing, cross-modality imaging (CT, U/S), and 3D imaging for vascular and cerebral cases.

Cath Lab Special Procedure Technologists, when applicable, should be proficient in utilizing IVUS, FFR, OCT, ICE, EKOS, Impella, and various cardiac, peripheral, and carotid interventions.

EP Lab Special Procedure Technologists, if relevant, must demonstrate proficiency in ICE, participate in device implants, and circulate in all other EP cases, including advanced EP procedures and laser lead extractions.


Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a degree from a Cardiovascular Technologist program, an associate degree in cardiovascular technology or basic science, a Paramedic license, or equivalent training and education.


Certifications:

For IR roles, BLS certification and active RT status are required upon hire, along with RT-CV or VI registration. Proficiency in basic computer and math skills, exceptional communication abilities, and outstanding customer service skills are essential.

This is a full-time position with a Monday to Friday schedule and on-call weekend responsibilities.
