Position Overview
This role functions as a Medical Supply Coordinator within the Logistics Service of the Veterans Health Administration, focusing on the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) sectors.
Key Responsibilities
As a Medical Supply Coordinator, your primary duties will encompass:
- Managing inventory and materials for various healthcare settings including wards, clinics, and operating rooms.
- Ensuring the timely delivery of both sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment.
- Maintaining accurate records of stock levels and communicating any supply-related concerns to supervisors.
- Providing assistance and information to clinical and administrative staff regarding medical supplies.
- Monitoring expiration dates and implementing stock rotation to minimize waste.
- Conducting daily inventory checks using barcoding systems to facilitate efficient replenishment.
- Distributing supplies based on established protocols and addressing discrepancies between inventory records and physical counts.
- Preparing specialty carts and ensuring a clean and compliant environment in secondary storage areas.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with a standard workweek.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this position, candidates must be U.S. citizens and may be required to undergo a background investigation. Participation in health-related vaccination programs is mandatory for all personnel.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a valid state-issued driver's license and meet the following experience or education requirements:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in federal service, involving supply management in a healthcare setting.
- Alternatively, completion of four years of education beyond high school in a relevant field.
- A combination of specialized experience and education may also be considered.
Competencies
Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in:
- Technical knowledge related to supply management.
- Customer service skills, ensuring satisfaction among internal clients.
- Effective use of technology and inventory management systems.
- Attention to detail in all aspects of supply handling.
Physical Requirements
This position requires physical stamina, including standing and walking for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift and move supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
