Job Summary
The role of the ESL Instructor is to foster and enhance the educational experience of students by designing and customizing instructional programs; monitoring academic progress; ensuring a secure and supportive learning environment; and maintaining communication with classroom educators and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Following assessments and collaboration with General Education instructors, the ESL Instructor will conduct targeted group sessions or provide in-class support to enhance students' skills in mathematics and/or reading/language arts.
  • Assist general education instructors in evaluating and identifying students' proficiency levels in mathematics and/or reading/language arts to form appropriate groups and collaborate on tailored intervention strategies.
  • Coordinate with general education instructors to establish a consistent schedule for meeting with students requiring focused intervention, minimizing disruption to regular classroom activities.
  • Develop lesson plans in accordance with established educational guidelines and submit them for review as necessary.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide regular updates on assessment data.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with administrators, general education instructors, support staff, and parents regarding student achievements and challenges.
  • Oversee, assist, and assess student performance by preparing assignments and tests; administer standardized assessments in compliance with district regulations.
  • Promote a positive classroom environment by addressing behavioral issues and consulting with specialists when necessary.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy educational setting by adhering to established standards and legal requirements.
  • Identify and address academic challenges by providing counseling and utilizing school resources for additional support.
  • Keep parents informed about student performance, attendance, and social integration; provide comprehensive reports during parent-teacher meetings.
  • Support student engagement by monitoring common areas and facilitating extracurricular activities.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by attending meetings, participating in training, reading relevant literature, and engaging with professional networks.
  • Contribute to the school's positive reputation by embracing new challenges and seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
