Job Overview

Your Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in high-quality, innovative projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial design to final construction completion. Collaborate closely with architects and stakeholders on a variety of complex projects, emphasizing sustainability and energy efficiency in the built environment. WSP provides ample opportunities for professional growth, with many of our leaders having started their careers as engineers within our firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in teams or work independently to plan and execute mechanical engineering tasks under the guidance of a senior engineer.
  • Manage time and tasks effectively to adhere to project budgets and timelines.
  • Contribute to a comprehensive range of mechanical design activities, including equipment layouts, load calculations, and coordination with other trades and consultants.
  • Research and recommend essential components in compliance with relevant codes for mechanical designs.
  • Assist in documenting mechanical designs under the supervision of a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Participate in client meetings and field activities, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Collaborate on presentation materials and ideas with team members.
  • Contribute to the preparation of internal reports for client discussions.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Familiarity with operations and project controls for reporting purposes.
  • Interest in diverse market sectors such as healthcare, commercial, and residential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, codes, and compliance practices.
  • Proficiency in load calculation programs and design software.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as project demands dictate.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary based on project requirements.
Preferred:
  • P.E. and/or LEED AP certification.

Compensation

Expected Salary Range: $73,000 - $125,000, reflecting the company’s commitment to fair compensation based on qualifications and experience.
