Job Overview:

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, a prestigious 665-bed teaching hospital established in 1901, is dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare services. Our institution is supported by over 800 physicians, 3200 staff members, and 150 volunteers, ensuring high-quality care for our community.

Our specialized Children's Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ) focuses exclusively on pediatric patients, recognizing their distinct healthcare needs. We provide treatment in a nurturing environment across nearly 30 pediatric subspecialties, including a full-service Children’s Heart Center and a dedicated Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Our experienced team also includes a Pediatric Emergency Department and the only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in New Jersey equipped with an ECMO unit for infants in critical respiratory distress.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • ASN or Nursing Diploma
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet unit demands
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • At least one year of recent PICU experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Active New Jersey RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem Days 7a-7:30p
  • Minimum of 2 shifts every 4-6 weeks
  • One summer holiday and one winter holiday

Essential Functions:

  • The Registered Nurse delivers nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, while adhering to ethical standards of practice.
  • Ensures safety in practice and incorporates evidence-based principles, maintaining awareness of personal knowledge and experience.
  • Responsible for reporting safety concerns and medical errors, ensuring a safe environment for patients.
  • Knowledgeable about the patient population served and supervises the delegation of tasks to team members.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to create individualized care plans that address specific patient needs.
