Community Action Corporation of South Texas is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our team. As a Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and healthy learning environment that fosters the intellectual, emotional, and physical development of children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, document, and implement lesson plans that incorporate individualization and research-based curricula.
  • Implement effective teaching practices that promote positive outcomes and growth in children.
  • Document attendance, education, health, nutrition, mental health, transition, and parent-family engagement and disabilities.
  • Perform screenings and assessments within the required timeframe.
  • Conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences as needed.
  • Implement positive teacher-child interactions and behavior curriculum/framework.
  • Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean at all times.
  • Supervise and implement Active Supervision to ensure child safety and well-being.
  • Coordinate with Family Advocates to make referrals for services and assist with obtaining necessary documentation.
  • Comply with Head Start Program Performance Standards, Minimum Standards for Child Care Licensing, and other relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Associate or baccalaureate degree in child development, early childhood education, or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching preschool-age children.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Pass a DFPS background check and annual physical.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience teaching in a Head Start preschool setting.
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish/English).
Physical Requirements

Able to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation, including walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects up to 10 lbs., and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.
