Position Overview:
The Substance Abuse Counselor plays a vital role within the multidisciplinary team at the Addiction Treatment Center (ATC), providing essential support and guidance to clients dealing with addiction issues.


Qualifications:
Current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), CASAC Level 2, CASAC-Advanced Counselor, or CASAC-Master Counselor in New York State is required.
Note:
Candidates must maintain eligibility for full participation in Medicaid and Medicare programs. Non-compliance may lead to employment termination.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary counselor for designated groups of clients, overseeing all aspects of clinical services and direct care.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, along with various recreational, vocational, and social activities.
  • Conduct client interviews and review medical and psychiatric histories to aid in treatment plan formulation.
  • Monitor client adherence to treatment objectives.
  • Complete necessary documentation for clients and the facility, ensuring compliance with OASAS procedures and confidentiality standards.
  • Orient clients about the treatment facility's programs, activities, policies, and regulations.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with vocational, educational, social services, probation, parole, referral agencies, and other community organizations to support client rehabilitation.
  • May engage with insurance providers for preauthorization and ongoing reviews.
  • Conduct routine rounds to document observations and ensure a safe therapeutic environment.
  • May transport clients using agency vehicles.
  • Assist in meal preparation and distribution.
  • Communicate relevant shift change information to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Compensation:
Hourly rate of $27.90, as needed.

Any convictions must be disclosed, as they may impact employment eligibility. Each case will be evaluated based on its individual circumstances, adhering to applicable laws and regulations.
