Job Summary

A Speech Therapist provides coordinated speech therapy to patients of all age groups.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in speech-language pathology and be able to develop and implement individualized plans for clients to meet their unique needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing and evaluating speech and language skills
  • Planning, directing, or conducting rehabilitative treatment programs
  • Providing counseling and guidance and language development therapy
  • Administering, scoring, and analyzing the results of specialized hearing and speech tests
  • Using effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to facilitate desirable outcomes

Requirements:

Educations: Graduate of an accredited college or University in Speech-Language Pathology

Licensure: Current Texas State License in Speech –Language Pathology, current Texas Driver's License

Experience: Two years experience in acute care or rehabilitation setting, home health preferred

Skills: Therapy skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice, good interpersonal skills

Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid and current auto liability insurance

Environmental and Working Conditions:

Works in a patient's home in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather

Physical and Mental Efforts:

Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho social needs
