Meat Cutter

Hannaford Supermarkets is a leading grocery store chain that has been serving the community since 1883. As a Meat Cutter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers receive high-quality meat products.

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting and preparing meat products to meet customer demands. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

1. Perform meat cutting functions, including scraping and traying products, cubing steaks, grinding ground meats, and cutting and processing meat according to Standard Practice Manual.
2. Provide outstanding customer service, communicating with and assisting customers in selecting products.
3. Identify, wrap, price, and weigh all meat department items in accordance with specified procedures.
4. Stock fresh, frozen, and self-service cases using proper rotation procedures.
5. Receive meat deliveries, code, rotate, and store them in the appropriate area.
6. Wash, rinse, and sanitize all cases, wrap stations, scaling equipment, cooler, cutting room, and disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed.

1. Meet minimum age requirements.
2. Good interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team environment.
3. Effective customer service and communication skills.
4. Successful experience as a meat associate or previous meat cutting experience.
5. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.

1. Lift cases or packages of meat products weighing 1-40 lb frequently and 100 lb on occasion.
2. Meet established volume activity standards.
3. Stand or walk 100% of the time while working in temperatures of 45 degrees F the majority of the time.
4. Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching, and hand/arm motions as the product is identified, wrapped, priced, and weighed.
5. Use hands continuously to feel objects, use tools, and equipment to cut and prepare meat products.
6. Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials, and meat products.
7. Frequent bending.
