Qualifications:

  • Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution or completion of an approved LPN/LVN program.
  • Experience in long-term care is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Active and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee daily operations of nursing assistants in line with regulations and facility guidelines.
  2. Ensure nursing staff adherence to established policies and procedures.
  3. Engage in the processes of resident admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  4. Monitor changes in residents' conditions, notify physicians, and document observations accurately.
  5. Administer prescribed medications and conduct wound care as directed by physicians.
  6. Coordinate follow-up appointments and provide leadership in nursing practices.
  7. Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver end-of-life care.
  8. Maintain adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Treat all residents with respect and dignity.
  • Foster a culture of compliance with facility policies.
  • Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols consistently.
  • Protect the confidentiality of health information and report any noncompliance.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills and follow infection control procedures.

Skills and Physical Requirements:

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Demonstrated patience and capability to handle challenging situations.
  • Must not pose a risk to the health and safety of others.
  • Ability to assist in resident evacuation during emergencies.
  • Physical capability to perform movements necessary for the role.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and challenging resident behaviors is possible.

Compliance and Performance Evaluation:

Agreement to adhere to facility standards, policies, and procedures is essential for employment. Breaches will lead to disciplinary measures.
