Position: Psychiatric Program Nurse Manager

The Psychiatric Program Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing a 14-bed unit dedicated to senior adult psychiatric care. This role entails a comprehensive approach to managing the delivery of psychiatric nursing services, ensuring high standards of care are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments, develop plans, implement strategies, and evaluate the effectiveness of psychiatric nursing care.
  • Provide managerial support to the Director of Nurses, supervising and evaluating nursing staff performance.
  • Contribute to the overall objectives of the psychiatric program and the hospital by aligning with nursing and program philosophies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Must be a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years of experience, including at least 3 years in clinical psychiatric or mental health nursing, preferably with oversight experience.

Licensure: Valid RN License issued by the state board of nursing.

Experience: Previous experience in mental health nursing is highly desirable.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Competence in using PC computers.

Duties Include:

  • Collaborating with medical and clinical teams to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Providing input on patient care policies and nursing standards to enhance treatment effectiveness.
  • Ensuring continuity of care by understanding clinical needs and individual treatment plans.
  • Supervising nursing activities related to patient care and ensuring accurate documentation of patient progress.
  • Administering nursing care as needed and supporting staff nurses in clinical competencies.
  • Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings to uphold quality patient care.
  • Monitoring quality assurance and identifying areas for improvement through performance measures.
  • Developing patient monitoring strategies to manage referral volumes.
  • Ensuring nursing staff fulfills responsibilities to maintain the highest quality of care, including treatment plans and assessments.
