- Conduct patrols throughout the city to enforce local Animal Control Regulations and relevant State Laws.
- Safeguard stray animals for designated periods within the animal shelter.
- Transport animals, manage shelter operations, and provide care for detained animals.
- Capture animals that are deemed dangerous, ill, or deceased on public roads or authorized properties.
- Maintain precise records of apprehended animals and their locations, and communicate effectively with pet owners and the public.
- Utilize mobile communication devices for information exchange.
- Investigate public complaints regarding nuisance animals.
- Provide information on animal licensing and disposal procedures.
- Assist in rabies control initiatives.
- Prepare reports and complete necessary documentation.
- Investigate animal bite incidents in accordance with established policies and laws.
- Clarify codes, regulations, and procedures to the public and other agencies.
- Foster positive relationships with colleagues, city staff, and the community through excellent customer service.
- Issue warnings, notices to appear, and citations as necessary.
- Research and prepare cases for legal proceedings and provide testimony in court.
- Perform additional duties as required.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Physical capability to lift, crouch, crawl, and perform various animal control tasks.
- Strong oral communication skills for receiving detailed information and making sound judgments.
- Proficient reading and writing skills for effective communication with city personnel and the public.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with the public, with a focus on public relations.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
- Capacity to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, with up to 50% of time spent outdoors.
- Ability to perform effectively in noisy environments.
- Willingness to work in potentially hazardous conditions involving animals.
- Knowledge of animal care, adoption, euthanasia processes, and investigation techniques for animal cruelty.
- Familiarity with state laws and local ordinances related to animal control.
- Understanding of humane animal care methods and basic animal behavior.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
- Ability to use various office equipment and software.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
- Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License (Class C).
- Prior experience in animal control or a related field is preferred.
- Certification as a Basic Animal Control Officer by the Texas Department of Health Services is preferred, or completion of a certification course within one year of employment.
- Certification for Euthanasia by the Texas Department of Health or ability to obtain it within one year of employment.
- Certification as an Animal Control Officer by the Texas Department of Health.

- Experience in customer service is advantageous.
This position requires:
