Job Title: Disaster Recovery Paralegal

Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Disaster Recovery Paralegal to join our team. As a key member of our Disaster Recovery Legal Services Unit, you will provide critical support to our attorneys and clients affected by disasters.

Job Summary:

The Disaster Recovery Paralegal will assist in the provision of legal services to disaster recovery clients, including conducting intakes, collecting client data, drafting correspondence, and providing litigation support. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the legal system, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and clients.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct intakes and collect client data to ensure accurate and timely service delivery.
  2. Assist attorneys with client preparation, legal file documentation, and pre-trial preparation.
  3. Provide litigation support, including support of court appearances, motion practice, depositions, mediations, negotiations, and trial practice.
  4. Maintain client information in the database(s) and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  5. Develop and implement effective strategies to address client needs and achieve goals.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Paralegal degree or certification.
  • Strong knowledge of the legal system and commitment to the mission of FRLS.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Case Management System.
