Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Audiologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As an Audiologist, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive audiological evaluations, ensuring the proper fit of amplification devices, and providing counseling to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Auditory and Vestibular Evaluations

Administer a detailed questionnaire and a battery of tests to evaluate the auditory and vestibular systems. Read, interpret, and prepare tracings to be sent to referring physicians.

Prepare and Distribute Reports

Prepare reports on diagnostic findings and ensure they are distributed appropriately and confidentially as authorized by the patient or their family.

Administer Audiological Tests

Administer a wide variety of audiological tests to determine the patient's hearing level and the most likely site of damage to the auditory system. Anticipate the degree of social disability due to hearing loss, predict potential benefits to hearing aid use and/or special training.

Counsel Patients and Families

Counsel patients and their families regarding the results of testing and recommendations. Confer with medical staff regarding audiological and vestibular problems and make recommendations regarding appropriate patient referral and management.

Provide Cochlear Implant Services

Schedule and provide cochlear implant services, when provided by the business unit.

Manage Inventory and Supplies

Monitor inventory and initiate replacement orders to maintain an operating supply level. Ensure supplies are properly stored.

Provide Training and Education

Provide didactic and practical in-service training to residents and medical students and other hospital staff.

Participate in Research and Meetings

Participate in research, conferences, and meetings.

Requirements
  • Master's Degree

A Master's Degree is required, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Current License and Certification

A current license to practice as an Audiologist in New York State and Current Clinical Competence - AUD (ASHA) Certification are required, plus specialized certifications as needed.

Relevant Experience

1-3 years of relevant experience are required.
