Position Overview
The Environmental Policy Analyst role is available at Colorado State University, focusing on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance. This position is designed to support the Air National Guard Readiness Center's NEPA Program Office.
Location
This role offers a fully remote work option, providing flexibility while contributing to significant environmental projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and provide technical assistance for NEPA requests from various installations.
- Support the Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP), Categorical Exclusion (CatEx), Environmental Assessment (EA), and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) documentation.
- Track and manage NEPA requests, ensuring timely updates and evaluations of project needs.
- Collaborate with installation staff and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across multiple environmental disciplines.
- Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and participate in outreach and training initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Natural Resources Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in preparing NEPA documents.
- Strong knowledge of environmental resource types considered in NEPA analysis.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred:
- Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
- Experience in structured organizations such as governmental agencies or military settings.
- Familiarity with Air Force directives related to NEPA.
- Professional certifications in environmental management.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, with occasional overnight travel. Candidates should be prepared to engage with a variety of stakeholders and maintain a focus on compliance and customer service.
