Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role within the Department of Rehabilitation, where you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide vocational rehabilitation counseling to individuals with disabilities, utilizing a variety of counseling modalities and techniques to help them adjust to their disability and identify barriers to employment.
  • Interpret and apply applicable federal and state laws and regulations to ensure compliance and provide the best possible services to consumers.
  • Facilitate the consumer's participation in the VR process, taking into account their strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interests, and informed choice.
  • Coordinate with the VR team to identify the need for assessments and services, communicate and coordinate the implementation of service delivery, and ensure that all team members are aware of a consumer's eligibility, priority for services, and employment goals.
  • Mentor and provide disability-specific training to team members, effectively delegate assessments and services, and prioritize, triage, and guide DOR consumers to the appropriate team member.
  • Review cost-effectiveness of services purchased by other team members at the individual consumer case level, consult with the team on complex consumer inquiries, and make the final determination of eligibility and communicate eligibility, priority for services, and approve and sign the Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) and amendments.
  • Determine successful employment outcomes achieved and approve case closure for services of DOR consumers, develop, maintain, and record necessary Records of Services documentation in the electronic tracking system, and conduct community outreach to generate appropriate consumer referrals.
  • Attend, participate, and present information regarding the DOR program at public forums, provide training and participate in workgroups as assigned, and perform other related duties as directed.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, or a closely related field from a recognized institution and successful completion of one graduate course with a primary focus on Theories and Techniques in Counseling is mandatory.
  • Reliability, dependability, and exceptional interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Upon hire, applicant may be required to provide official sealed college transcripts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Briefly describe at least two personal qualities and experience in working with a diverse team to serve people with disabilities.
  • Briefly explain the experience, skills, and qualities you have that make you a qualified candidate to perform the associated duties on the duty statement and carry out the mission of the Department of Rehabilitation.
