Position Summary
The Molecular Technologist II (Sun - Thurs 9:00am - 5:30pm) plays a vital role in executing complex laboratory analyses on patient samples, including nucleic acid isolation and next-generation sequencing (NGS) procedures. This position demands exceptional attention to detail, strong communication abilities, multitasking skills, flexibility in scheduling, and a commitment to quality control and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting patient sample processing in accordance with established molecular biology protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Isolating nucleic acids from various sample types, including human tissue, blood, and saliva.
- Building DNA/RNA libraries and performing NGS.
- Utilizing liquid handling robots for sample processing.
- Identifying and resolving moderate sample and plate issues by analyzing data from SOPs, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and instrument files.
- Reviewing patient and control data, documenting findings per laboratory quality standards, and communicating any anomalies.
- Ensuring adequate inventory of laboratory supplies for daily operations and collaborating with supply chain teams.
- Contributing to training initiatives by developing and providing training materials.
- Performing routine maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment.
- Troubleshooting instrumentation issues and restoring automated processes.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of SOPs.
- Documenting activities and results in LIMS and worksheets.
- Executing environmental health and safety functions as required.
- Acting as a contact for temperature alarm systems to maintain specimen integrity.
- Integrating feedback professionally and prioritizing tasks to achieve high-quality results.
- Collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Exhibiting strong communication skills to maintain open dialogue with colleagues and management.
- Demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and a strong quality orientation.
- Upholding the company's mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.

- Maintaining consistent and reliable attendance.
- Willingness to work nights or weekends as necessary.
- Ability to operate mobile devices, tablets, or computers for approximately 20% of the workday.
- Capability to stand for approximately 80% of the workday and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Complying with personal protective equipment requirements.
- Performing repetitive tasks using laboratory tools, including pipettes.
- Utilizing various chemicals in the execution of duties.
- Employing analytical skills to read and interpret data effectively.
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials and equipment with moving parts.
- Operating diverse laboratory instruments, including NGS systems and liquid handling robotics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.
- Familiarity with laboratory concepts, applications, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Proficiency in basic molecular or microbiology techniques and related equipment.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Proven ability to fulfill the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with molecular laboratory techniques, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR), library construction for NGS, and sequencing.
Compensation:
$50,000 - $81,000.00. The annual base salary is for this position and includes eligibility for bonuses and company stock options.
