Job Summary

The Pathology Assistant II is a critical role in our laboratory, responsible for assisting Molecular Intelligence Pathologists in organizing and performing various aspects of pathology. This includes reviewing pathology reports, marking and microdissecting tumor areas, ordering tests, and ensuring quality assurance steps are taken.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Target Now Pathologist Assistant Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of the Pathology/microdissection department.
  • Read and review pathology reports, and identify areas of concentrated tumor on H&E staining.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify tumor areas on stained NFR slides and collect them for molecular analysis using micro and macro techniques.
  • Identify missing or incorrect information and open discrepancies to resolve before cases are activated.
  • Maintain a clean workstation and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance tests as required.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation and logs, and report concerns to a supervisor or safety officer.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications in the technical aspects of pathology.
  • Ability to work under routine and stressful situations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Practical and current knowledge in all appropriate laboratory disciplines.
  • Experience working with a team of microdissection technicians in a CLIA-certified environment (preferred).
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures for biohazards and chemicals, as well as quality control procedures and regulations.
  • Strong quantitative skills and proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands
  • Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail.
  • Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, and perform repetitive motion.
  • Ability to use a microscope for extended periods of time, and lift up to 30 pounds.
