Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapy Instructor will be responsible for teaching and developing the curriculum for the Respiratory Care program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory therapy and experience in teaching and curriculum development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach respiratory care courses to students in the Respiratory Care program
  • Develop and implement curriculum for respiratory care courses
  • Assess student performance and maintain grade records
  • Create an effective learning environment through the use of a variety of instructional methods
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to complete scheduled program reviews and to use the findings to revise the curriculum
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide meetings and committees
  • Participate in college projects, surveys, studies, and reports that relate to the discipline or program
  • Support the college's goals and objectives
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy is required, Baccalaureate degree preferred
  • Must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and current state license
  • A minimum of four years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two years in clinical respiratory care
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs
  • Must have a certification with the American Heart Association ACLS and BLS
  • Excellent time management, verbal, writing, organization, and critical-thinking skills are required
  • Ability to provide a positive and effective learning environment
  • Understanding of education environments including needs of adult learners
  • Motivation, dedication, and enthusiasm for teaching
  • Good organization and communication skills
