The Electrophysiology Specialist utilizes highly specialized knowledge to provide direct and indirect patient care, facilitating electrophysiology procedures through room preparation, patient preparation, and assisting physicians with procedures in scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating roles.
Key Responsibilities- Accomplishes monitoring duties, understanding mechanics of arrhythmias, and monitoring patient's electrocardiogram and reporting rhythm disturbances to physician.
- Accomplishes scrub duties, practicing sterile techniques, and ensuring tasks are accomplished efficiently and accurately.
- Prepares procedure room using infection control guidelines, ensures radiation protection techniques are followed, and performs accurate set-up of EP equipment.
- Assists with recovery duties, obtaining hemostasis as needed, and safely returning patients to room or nursing unit after procedure when necessary.
- Orders and restocks supplies as needed, retrieves supplies from Central Supply and Material Services as needed, and ensures instruments are cleaned and prepared for Central Supply per department Policy and Infection Control.
- Successful completion of a health sciences program.
- 2 years EP or Cardiac Cath Lab experience.
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) certification.
