Job Summary
As an Electrophysiology Specialist at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care, facilitating electrophysiology procedures through room preparation, patient preparation, and assisting physicians with procedures in scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Accomplish monitoring duties, understanding mechanics of arrhythmias, and monitoring patient's electrocardiogram and reporting rhythm disturbances to physicians.
- Accomplish scrub duties, practicing sterile techniques, and ensuring tasks are accomplished efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare procedure rooms using infection control guidelines, ensuring radiation protection techniques are followed, and performing accurate set-up of EP equipment.
- Assist with recovery duties, obtaining hemostasis as needed, and safely returning patients to room or nursing unit after procedure when necessary.
- Order and restock supplies as needed, retrieving supplies from Central Supply and Material Services, and ensuring instruments are cleaned and prepared for Central Supply per department Policy and Infection Control.
- Ensure appropriate surveillance of assigned patients, identifying barriers related to specific care issues, and seeking assistance as appropriate, thereby maintaining quality and patient safety.
- Maintain professional licensure and take personal accountability for maintaining competency through education and professional activities.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a health sciences program.
- 2 years EP or Cardiac Cath Lab experience.
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist).
- SCRQSA.
Work Environment
Day shift in the Electrophysiology department at Richland Hospital.
