We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiologist to serve as the Medical Director of the Cardiology Program at VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical care and oversight of the cardiology providers who rotate through for specialty coverage, strategic growth planning, collaboration with hospital departments to assure strong continuity of care for cardiac patients.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Education: Support teaching directly via interactions with Fellows, Housestaff, and non-physician professionals. Periodically present reviews in patient management discussions at Cardiology and Department of Internal Medicine conferences. Participate in University Continuing Medical Education programs for practicing physicians to enhance patient referrals.
- Research: Support clinical research protocols as needed.
- Service: Participate in quality, safety, and efficiency initiatives. Serve in the Cardiology Medical Director capacity and serve as a liaison to the health system Cardiology service line to contribute to health system goals at the local level. Responsible for provider scheduling for the clinic and hospital coverage.
- Clinical: Primarily dedicated to outpatient, inpatient, and consultative clinical services. Collaborate across hospital departments to include Primary Care, Hospitalists, ED, and Imaging. Collaborate with VCUMC and CMH Cardiology providers to set and implement appropriate standards of practice related to cardiac care.
- Administrative: Submit billing and document care as required by the organization. Abide by all medical staff requirements.
- Board certified/board eligible cardiologist with demonstrated skills in cardiovascular disease.
- Clinically oriented and possess sufficient research and teaching experience to be eligible for academic appointment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work with a large multidisciplinary program.
- Will be expected to participate in teaching and fellowship programs.
- Must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Virginia.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
