Job Summary

The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in the coordination of direct patient care activities and provide clinical support to providers within one of our clinical practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Check in patients and obtain vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and temperature
  • Reconcile medications and obtain patient medical history information
  • Expedite patient flow and room patients in a timely manner
  • Stock clinic supplies and navigate the electronic health record system (EPIC)
  • Schedule and follow-up on appointments, as well as assist with medication fill and refill requests
  • Check for prior authorizations and schedule tests, procedures, and consultations
  • Perform procedures such as EKG, phlebotomy, lab tests, and injections (once competency has been assessed)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the coordination and flow of patients throughout their visit to create an exceptional patient experience
  • Proactively check the provider's schedule and review information within the patient record to ensure all required information is available prior to their visit
  • Proactively obtain any missing information from the patient to ensure medical records are accurate and up-to-date
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements, including HIPAA/OSHA compliance
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information
  • Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate to be received within 90 days
  • One of the following: prior working experience in a medical office/clinic performing clinical MA duties, Certified MA from the National Health Career Association (NHA), or completed any MA education program but has not received certification as of yet
Preferred Requirements for Certified Medical Assistant
  • Current MA Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, AAMP
  • Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current Licensure without restrictions
  • Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information
  • Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate, within 90 days
