Role Summary

The Transportation Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of a van or small bus, facilitating the movement of residents and passengers to various destinations. This position requires a solid understanding of vehicle regulations and basic maintenance protocols. Responsibilities include conducting daily vehicle inspections, fueling, and performing maintenance tasks as necessary. The ideal candidate will assist residents with boarding and disembarking, deliver safety briefings, and be prepared to engage in emergency procedures when required. A valid driver's license and a minimum age of 25 are essential, along with the capability to operate lift equipment and lift weights ranging from 40 to 60 lbs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety regulations and operational guidelines for vehicle use
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle
  • Assist residents in safely entering and exiting the vehicle
  • Safely operate and maintain transportation vehicles
  • Keep accurate records of vehicle usage and mileage
  • Provide comprehensive safety briefings to passengers
  • Follow designated route assignments from the Supervisor
  • Support emergency evacuation procedures as needed
  • Engage in patient care and staff development initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license from the Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Ability to operate lift equipment and lift weights of 40-60 lbs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
